Job Summary:
The Computational Chemist will be responsible for utilizing advanced computational techniques to support chemical engineering projects and research activities. This role will involve developing and implementing computational models, simulations, and algorithms to analyze and optimize chemical processes. The Computational Chemist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide valuable insights and recommendations for process improvement and development of new chemical compounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement computational models and simulations to study chemical reactions, properties, and processes.
- Analyze and interpret computational data to provide insights and recommendations for process optimization.
- Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and researchers to provide computational support and contribute to project strategies.
- Design and execute computational experiments to validate and optimize chemical processes.
- Utilize software tools and programming languages to develop and implement algorithms for data analysis and simulations.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in computational chemistry and bring in innovative ideas to enhance research methodologies.
- Document and present research findings, technical reports, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines during computational experiments and simulations.
- Collaborate with external partners, universities, and research institutes as required to leverage expertise and resources for project advancements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Computational Chemistry, or a related field.
- Proven experience in computational chemistry, employing techniques such as molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, and statistical mechanics.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, or FORTRAN, with the ability to develop and implement computational algorithms.
- Solid understanding of chemical engineering principles, processes, and reactions.
- Proficient in utilizing software tools for molecular modeling, simulation, and data analysis, such as Gaussian, VASP, LAMMPS, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex computational data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, while also being self-motivated and proactive.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) systems and parallel programming is desirable.
